"When We See Christ"

IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL
Then I turned on the computer to watch the church services that I couldn't go to and after Sunday School Eben, the song leader, picked some great songs and I was caterwalling along with the computer, missing being there so bad, as usual, but getting a blessing anyway! Then he came to the last song. Before they sang it he read the history behind the song. I have heard the history before, in part.- When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,When sorrows like sea billows roll;Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,It is well, it is well, with my soul.
- Refrain:It is well, with my soul,It is well, it is well, with my soul.
- Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,Let this blest assurance control,That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,And hath shed His own blood for my soul.
- My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! My sin, not in part but the whole,Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!
- For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:If Jordan above me shall roll,No pang shall be mine, for in death as in lifeThou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.
- But, Lord, ’tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,The sky, not the grave, is our goal;Oh, trump of the angel! Oh, voice of the Lord!Blessed hope, blessed rest of my soul!
- And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,The clouds be rolled back as a scroll; The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,Even so, it is well with my soul.

Blessed Assurance
- Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.- Refrain:
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
- Refrain:
- Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels, descending, bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love. - Refrain:
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long. - Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love. - Refrain:
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long. - Frances J. Crosby, 1873
- Hebrews 10:22
- How can this not be on my favorite song's list? Where would we be? Where would I be? If it were not for the assurance of our Salvation? If we weren't able to know for SURE that we are on our way to Heaven with our sins already under the Blood of Christ and forgiven...I for one would be a mess!
- Can you imagine facing Almighty God with your sins unforgiven and the debt still owed to pay for those crimes, be they big or small. Knowing that God in his Righteousness demands the same punishment for sins whether they be big ones or small ones, used to scare me to death! But now my sins have been covered by the blood and I have Blessed Assurance.

When You Say Nothing At All
When You Say Nothing At All
Without saying a word, you can light up the dark
Try as I may I could never explain
What I hear when you don't say a thing
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you'll catch me whenever I fall
You say it best.. when you say nothing at all
All day long I can hear people talking out loud
But when you hold me near, you drown out the crowd (the crowd)
Try as they may they can never define
What's been said between your heart and mine
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you'll catch me whenever I fall
You say it best.. when you say nothing at all
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you'll catch me whenever I fall
You say it best.. when you say nothing at all
(You say it best when you say nothing at all
You say it best when you say nothing at all..)
The smile on your face
The truth in your eyes
The touch of your hand
Let's me know that you need me..

Till the Storm Passes By
Then when he was born it was the song I would sing to calm him to sleep, or to ease him. There was something about the tune whether I was singing the words or humming the tune it settled his tears and crying (and mine too). Or when we were in the car alone together and I got worried or overwhelmed about something as a Mom trying to raise her son alone.
For the first three years of his life I sang this song thru all my storms. And they did pass by, and God did hold us in His mighty hands and protect us! This is a precious, precious song and I never hear it without remembering all the nights of singing it over and over till my voice gave out or we both finally fell asleep knowing God was our fortress in our storm!

Night With the Frogs
It reminds me of the song sung by Mark Rogers (http://www.mrogers.com/) called "One More Night With the Frogs" I have heard him sing this song since I was 17 and it is a fun song and I got it and understood what he was saying in the song. But yesterday it became so very real to me that that is what so many Christians do is excuse what they are doing wrong with reasons, explanations and whatever else they can come up with to make it ok to do what they want for now even though it is sin. Fully expecting to ask God to forgive them for it later and move on with no consequences, as if the slate were now wiped clean. But God says that our sins will find us out and we will pay for them. Here or in Heaven, eventually they cause hurt and pain not just for us but for so many around us that we later are broken hearted when we see how far the ripples in the pool have spread from our lives into the lives of those we love. But by then, it is too late and we have to live with it.
So please don't, as Mark Rogers so eloquently puts it in his song, choose to spend "One More Night With the Frogs".
The last part of the song says: One more night with the stinkin' frogs, one more night in sin! I had a terrible time with them last night, but I just gotta' do it again! You know it will always be a puzzle to me and I guess it's all because, they could of had peace, rest, and sleep, but chose one more night with the frogs.

someday lady you'll accomp'ny me
someday lady you'll acomp'ny me
it's written down somewhere its got to be
your high above flyin wild and free
oh but someday lady you'll accomp'ny me
someday lady you'll accomp'ny me yeah
someday lady you'll acomp'ny me

In the Garden
- I come to the garden alone,
While the dew is still on the roses,
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses. - He speaks, and the sound of His voice
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing. - I’d stay in the garden with Him,
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling. - Charles A. Miles, 1913
This is James' favorite song. I was surprised when I found that out, for some reason. He's a big, burly Alaskan. Raised on a fishing boat. Commercial fishing since he was 9 yrs old. the middle of 5 boys and one younger sister, his Mother had died when he was 16 and the rest of his time at home was with a heartbroken tough old Cajun father who was gone weeks at a time working.Sunday, May 29, 2011
"Touch of the Master's Hand"
He though it scarcely worthwhile To waste much time with
the old violin
But he held it up with a smile
What am I bidden, good folk, he cried
Who'll start the bidding for me
A dollar, a dollar, come, who'll make it two
Two dollars, now who'll make it three
Three dollars once and three dollars twice
And going for three -- but no
From the back of the room a grey haired manStepped forward and picked up the bow
And brushing the dust from the old violin
And tightening up the loose strings
He played a melody pure and so sweet
Sweet as the angels sing
When the music ceased the old auctioneer
In a voice that was quiet and low
Asked, What am I bidden for the old violin
And he held it up with the bow
A thousand dollars -- come, who'll make it two
Two thousand, and who'll make it three
Three thousand once and three thousand twice
And going and gone, cried he
And the people shouted, and
some of them cried
We do not quite understand
What changed its worth -- swift came the reply
The touch of the master's hand
And many a man with life out of tune
And battered and scarred with sin
Is auctioned cheap to the thoughtless crowd
Much like the old violin
A mess of pottage, a glass of wine
A game and he travels on
He's going once and he's going twice
He's going and almost gone
But the master comes and the foolish crowd
Never can quite understand
The worth of a soul and the change that is wrought
By the touch of the master's hand

Trusting in God!
"Some trust in chariots and some trust in horses, but we will remember the name of the Lord our God!"
I was so scared but the scripture song got me thru the trip, I'm so thankful that God gives us the song we need, when we need it!!!

Rockin' Years
And I'll fulfill all you fantasies
I guess we're promising a lot, but for now it's all we've got
And I'll stand by you thru our rockin' years
Rockin' chairs, rockin' babies, rock-a-bye, rock of ages
Side by side we'll be together always
And if you'll hold me tight when you love me
That's all I'll ask of you
And I'll stand by you thru our rockin' years
I'll be your friend, I'll be your lover
Until the end, there'll be no other
'Cause my heart has only room for one
Yes, I'll always love you, and I'll always be here for you
And I'll stand by you thru our rockin' years
Rockin' chairs, rockin' babies, rock-a-bye, rock of ages
Side by side we'll be together always
And if you'll hold me tight when you love me
That's all I'll ask of you
And I'll stand by you thru our rockin' years
Rockin' chairs, rockin' babies, rock-a-bye, rock of ages
Side by side, we'll be together always
And, yes, I'll always love you and I'll always be here for you
And I'll stand by you thru our rockin' years, and I'll be here
And I'll stand by you thru our rockin' years
Thru our rockin' years
(Dolly Parton and Ricky Van Shelton)
"My Best Friend"
You brought love like I've never known
You gave life to our children
And to me a reason to go on.
You're my bread when I'm hungry
You're my shelter from troubled winds
You're my anchor in life's ocean
But most of all you're my best friend.
When I need hope and inspiration
You're always strong when I'm tired and weak
I could search This whole world over
You'll still be everything that I need.
You're my bread when I'm hungry
You're my shelter from troubled winds
You're my anchor in life's ocean
But most of all you're my best friend.
You're my bread when I'm hungry
You're my shelter from troubled winds
You're my anchor in life's ocean
But most of all you're my best friend...
He sang it to us at our wedding and now sings it for us before we leave their house every time we visit. It truly is "our song"!

"Daddy's Hands"
I remember Daddy's hands
Folded silently in prayer
And reaching out to hold me
When I had a nightmare
You could read quite a story
In the callouses and lines
Years of work and worry
Had left their mark behind
I remember Daddy's hands
How they held my Mama tight
And patted my back
For something done right
There are things I've forgotten
That I loved about the man
But I'll always remember
The love in Daddy's hands
Daddy's hands
Were soft and kind when I was cryin'
Daddy's hands
Were hard as steel when I'd done wrong
Daddy's hands
Weren't always gentle but I'd come to understand
There was always love in Daddy's hands
I remember Daddy's hands
Working til they bled
Sacrificed unselfishly
Just to keep us all fed
If I could do things over
I'd live my life again
And never take for grantedThe love in Daddy's hands
Daddy's hands
Were soft and kind when I was cryin'
Daddy's hands
Were hard as steel when I'd done wrongDaddy's hands
Weren't always gentle but I'd come to understand
There was always love in Daddy's hands
Daddy's hands
Were soft and kind when I was cryin'
Daddy's hands
Were hard as steel when I'd done wrong
Daddy's hands
Weren't always gentle but I'd come to understand
There was always love ............ in Daddy's hands
Holly Dunn
I first heard this song years ago and immediately thought of my own Dad.
I have always been fascinated by my Dad's hands. I have loved watching his hands as he worked, drove, talked, preached, cooked...anything he did, I loved to watch how strong they are and I would point out one scar after another and ask him how he got them. He usually didn't remember details, it was always a welding burn or a scar from working on a car engine or construction work or from the print shop... but one thing I knew he worked hard and earned every one of those scars and I was proud of his hands!
I loved to slip up beside him after church and slide my hand in his. It was always so large and strong and calloused and made me feel so safe, no matter how old or how tall I got!
His hands were strong to discipline me when I needed it but when he hugged me I knew he loved me and was doing what I needed to make me into the Christian Lady I needed to become.
I LOVE my "Daddy's Hands"!!
